1971 Triumph TR6
Only 4,500 fine weather miles
since full restoration; various useful upgrades; Fast Road cylinder
head; superb in all respects
If you have ever wondered what it must have felt like to
drive a brand new TR6 back in 1971, this could be your chance to find out.
Except the comparison will be slightly unfair because this car benefits from
some discreet modern upgrades which means it drives even better than new.
The current keeper acquired this car in 2010 when the
bodywork had already been fully restored and repainted to an excellent standard.
He then set about a total mechanical rebuild which took two years to complete
and cost many thousands of pounds, all meticulously detailed in dozens, if not
hundreds, of invoices on file.
The extent of the work carried out is far too detailed to
list in full here, but rest assured, virtually every nut, bolt and widget on
this car is as good as new. The engine has been rebuilt and the cylinder head
professionally gas-flowed and uprated to Fast Road spec. The fuel injection
system is all new, the fuel pump is uprated as is the alternator, it has
electronic ignition and a new cooling system with an uprated Revotec fan.
The braking system is all new as is the drivetrain with a
new propshaft, reconditioned diff and strengthened drive shafts. The suspension
is all new with reinforced front stub axles and gas struts at the rear with
adjustable camber mounts, all components being powder coated and polybushed. The
steering column has poly mounts to eliminate play and a new MotaLita steering
wheel is fitted.
The interior is all completely new or reconditioned
including the gauges/stalks/switches. The hood is also new as is the hood cover
and the wheels have been shot blasted and powder coated. All the brightwork is
new as is the front grille, the badges and the rear light clusters. Even the
wiper motor is new. You get the picture…
Since the restoration was completed, the car has only
covered around 4,500 fine weather miles and it remains in excellent condition
throughout. It has been starting promptly and running beautifully as we have
moved it around on site with good 60psi oil pressure and has an MOT to
12th November 2021 with no advisories recorded.
As good an example as we have ever offered, it needs
nothing other than a proud new owner to enjoy it.
