1990 Volkswagen Polo C (MkII)
Funky 80's style
with this Typ 86C 1.0 litre 4-speed 'Breadvan' variant in attractive order
showing just 39,835 miles
Supplied new by
Smithfield Garage Ltd of Birmingham in October 1990 this pre-facelift MkII Polo
C ‘breadvan’ is now a rare sight despite healthy sales at the time. With its
useful load area, the ‘Kammback’ estate style body proved most practical and its
quirky shape has led to cult-status among the VDub crowd.
Finished here
in attractive light blue metallic with grey cloth interior, the car wears a set
of retro-fit Scirroco steel wheels with slightly larger tyres giving it a more
muscular look. Under the bonnet, we find the proven 1,043cc 4-cylinder petrol
engine with improved torque over its 895cc predecessor thanks to its Heron head
design.
Showing just 39,835 miles the car presents well and looks to have
been restored at some point, but when we do not know. The history file includes
the V5C showing 6 previous owners, the owner’s pack with ‘On Call’ booklet
showing 1 stamp, service book with supplying dealer stamp plus delivery service
stamp, used car warranty booklet, a service bill dated May 1996, recent invoice
for a battery dated April 2020, invoice for a wheel alignment and a £213 spend
in June 2021 for renewal of a brake pipe, NSR wheel bearing and CV boot plus
MOT.
We also find a Haynes manual and 2 old MOTs plus current valid
until June 2022 with no advisories recorded. A look back at the car’s MOT
history online shows the car to have covered little mileage annually, the
mileage rising steadily from 19,535 miles in 2006 to the 39,618 miles recorded
at the last MOT. Buyers please note, the car was recorded Cat-C in November
2016.
Documents: V5C; owner's pack & service book with 1 stamp; few
