2004 Mazda MX5 (MkII) S-VT Sport BBR Turbo
Not
your usual MX-5 here-with a reputed 250bhp and full £7k BBR Turbo Sport 2.5
upgrade including clutch, LSD, suspension and brakes on this 4-owner 35,849 mile
beasty!
Not your usual Mazda MX-5. Supplied new
in December 2004 this late model MkII already boasted a high spec being the S-VT
Sport version featuring full leather with heated seats, air conditioning, front
spot lights, electric windows, white dials, aluminium affect trim etc and has
had just three owners from new. The
previous owner purchased the car in August 2015 after experiencing a Turbo
version when living in New Zealand and simply had to have
one.
EVO magazine had raved about the BBR Turbo
version it road tested a few years ago, so our vendor signed up for the full
‘BBR 2.5 Sport’ pack, costing a whopping £7,000. For that, the car would receive the
works, yet retain its stock look (until you look a little closer) including
BBR’s excellent Garrett turbo conversion, uprated clutch, full stainless hi-flow
exhaust, LSD, uprated turbo grooved disc brakes with uprated pads and beefier
suspension to handle the claimed 250bhp now available.
This pocket-rocket-roadster has covered just 35,849 miles and was
converted by BBR in 2015 when it had covered just 27,000 miles. With the arrival of small children our
original vendor in 2020 (who had the work done) simply didn’t have sufficient
opportunity to enjoy the car, hence just 4,000 miles covered during his
ownership, and just 3,500 more have been covered with our current owner since
purchase from us, with two new hips he is simply struggling to get in and
out.
The history file includes the V5C, owners
pack and service book showing 11 stamps plus three body inspections, six old
MOTs plus VOSA print-out along with service invoicing including those covering
the conversion. The current MOT runs until September 2023 recording just one
minor advisory. Recent works include a £1,055 spend on a new washer pump and MOT
repairs to the underside.
If it whets your
appetite further, our consignor was treated to a short blast in the car, and to
say it goes well was an understatement, MX5’s don’t usually go that well! Oh, and the plate pretty much says MX5,
and almost BBR if you squint hard-enough! Given the high price paid for
conversion, atop its purchase it represents something of an enticing, and very
quick bargain if you ask us.
