Cheeky Targa top 1.5 v-Tec Del Sol with auto box and nifty electric
rear deck - cool and desirable
Dating from June
1993 this early Honda CR-X Del Sol is a Japanese market car that was imported
and registered in the UK in May 2005 and is finished in Black, sat upon a set of
after-market 15” TSW alloy wheels also finished in black with polished spoke
faces and rim.
Under the bonnet, we find the
1.5 litre D15-B v-Tec SOHC four-cylinder engine which develops 128bhp driving
the front wheels via four-speed automatic transmission.
This example features the Trans-Top, an electric mechanism raises
the rear deck to the height of the lift-out Targa roof panel which can also
retract the Targa top inside the rear deck lid. We could only make the Trans-Top raise
and lower via the key in the boot lock and also remove the Targa manually
completely from the car, but we understand the Targa top panel can also slide
into the Trans-Top mechanism, but we were not able to operate this in full
successfully, but then, that could be us not following procedure
correctly.
Inside, we find grey cloth seats,
electric windows, electric mirrors, air con and Blaupunkt radio/CD
player.
The CRX shows 124,026 miles which is
likely a combination of KM from its time in Japan and then miles post conversion
on arrival here.
The history file includes the
V5C recording just one former keeper (likely the importer) in the UK and the
current who has enjoyed the car since May 2005, along with an old V5C and old
MOT which expired in October 2020 recording no Advisories. The car has been in storage since this
expired and pulled out to be offered for sale.
No doubt requiring a service and some light recommissioning along
with an MOT this is an interesting opportunity to acquire a seldom seen car with
an unusual party trick.
