1998 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 (996)
Lady owned
and used daily in attractive Ocean Jade with Nephrite green interior;
auto/tiptronic example in lovely order with 18 service stamps
First supplied new in March 1998, this early 3.4 water-cooled
flat-six 996 series Carrera 2 has Porsche’s excellent five speed
automatic/Tiptronic gearbox and is finished in the limited edition and unusual
shade of Ocean Jade Metallic (L25K) with green interior and carpets.
The
option sticker inside the front cover of the service book reveals this example
to have been well optioned when new and includes the following optional extras:
Special order full Nephrite green leather interior (JA), UK spec car (C16),
traction control ASR (222), traction control with ABD automatic braking
differential (224), 5-speed automatic/tiptronic transmission (249), 2-way
electric hard-back Sports seats LH & RH (375 & 376), CD compartment
(424), tiptronic buttons for steering wheel (432), Porsche colour crested wheel
caps (446), sun-moon-roof (650). In addition, the car features automatic digital
climate control with A/C, electric mirrors, windows and automatic rear spoiler.
Furthermore, this example has been fitted with sports tails to the
exhaust for a sportier bark, wider lightweight alloy wheels which compliment the
overall stance and appearance as well as having an iPad integrated into the
centre console permitting Bluetooth connectivity and a host of other iPad
features if that’s up your alley.
The car has been with our current lady
enthusiast owner for the last 2+ years, the previous owner to her also a lady
and has been carefully used and maintained. During our vendor’s tenure, the car
has been used regularly often with a baby seat strapped in the back proving a
911 really can be a practical ‘mum-car’ with two bags of horse feed in the ample
under bonnet boot and child in the back!
Recent maintenance works include
a lube service in July this year along with 4 replacement brake pipes (Calliper
to flexi), a replacement fuel rail in Easter 2020 and complete re-spray in
December 2020 in the original colour after some fade and bird-poo reaction.
The history file includes the V5C, owner’s pack & service book
revealing an impressive 18 service stamps with a further 6 entries for brake
fluid changes, 3 for long life condition reports and 1 for the airbag checks
plus a host of old MOTs, maintenance and parts invoices including a £1,523 spend
in 2019 at local specialist Doverman for a TDC sensor and exhaust repair,
replacement drive shafts and ABS sensor in 2017, replacement A/C condenser and
driers in 2015, and another for a replacement rear crank seal in 2008. The
current MOT is valid until September 2022 with no advisories recorded at 94,667
miles.
A tidy example (reluctantly offered for sale to fund a horse-box
purchase) with super service history in a rare colour scheme – 996’s are good
news of late following the price hikes of the air-cooled cars. These earlier
3.4’s tend not to suffer the IMS bearing problems of the later 3.6 versions as
they featured a stronger bearing– worth considering when looking for one of
these under-valued 911s.
Bidders please note, the private registration
pictured is NOT included and will be retained immediately online upon successful
sale, the car returning to its original age-related plate.
