Description
1979 BMW 520/6 (E12)
In storage for many years
this LHD E12 gen' 5-series is a rare car, here in manual six-cylinder M20B20
form that's been subject to recent recommissioning works and UK
registration
Dating from January 1979, this BMW E12 series is
finished in an attractive hue of light green with matching green cloth interior.
Featuring the M20B20 2.0 litre straight six engine that when new produced 120bhp
and here, is driven by the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual Getrag
'box.
The was, as we understand, in storage for many years in the
Midlands until 2020, after which time the car was pulled out and subject to some
recent recommissioning work including an overhaul of the ignition system, major
service, new slightly lower springs all round, new brake caliper with new seals,
brake cylinders and shoes, new boot lock, new clutch master cylinder, and new
wiper stalk (not yet fitted, boxed in the boot) totaling £732 with other
documented works including new radiator, timing belt and water pump, oil
service, new clutch and reconditioned cylinder head with new gaskets at a
further cost of some £1,875 in February 2020 by DNS of Stafford.
The
history file includes the V5C, dating letter from BMW Heritage, UK registration
correspondance from DVLA, a service booklet showing it hailed from Dussledorf
owned by a Lisi Luigi with 3 stamps by Autohaus Muller in 1979 and 1980 for the
PDI, running in service at 1,000km and for anti corrosion along with a selection
of original German manuals and other sundry bills.
A rare car, and in
what looks like good condition bodily with a respray evident from some time in
the past, it retains its nice matching cloth interior which shows
the expected localised signs of age/wear. A stereo has since been
located in the glove box to fill the hole but is not connected.
Its hard
not to fall for the sweet lines, particularly when combined with slightly
lowered suspension and deep lip x-spoke alloy wheels, this rare car shows
just 176,109km and was driven to the sale by its enthusiast
owner.
