1977 Rolls-Royce Shadow I
Shabby chic
late model Shadow 1 driven 50 miles to the sale; recent spend on accumulator and
brake pipes
Dating from January 1977, this late
model Shadow I has been used as part of a wedding fleet, although more recently
has been enjoyed by our vendor to go to and from Oswestry on the Welsh border
from his home near Llandrindod Wells which it has done with ease. Driven
some 50 miles to the sale, the car reportedly drove well.
Finished in an
attractive hue of ice blue with matching dark blue leather, the car sits right
and looks presentable. Up close, the paint is unlikely to win any awards with
signs of localised amateur, rather than professional repairs as pictured, but
for the money, it looks as you would expect.
The interior shows some sign
of age with a tear to the driver’s seat leather base and cracking typical of dry
leather this age. The odometer shows an indicated mileage of 78,758
miles.
The history file includes only the V5C showing 14 former keepers
and a couple of bills for a reconditioned accumulator, oil filter, brake hoses
and brake fluid in 2020. The car is of course now MOT exempt but was last
presented in 2010 when it failed on 8 points (check online at
check-mot.service.gov.uk and enter the reg), its not clear what subsequent works
have been undertaken in the last 11 years to rectify these
points.
Affordable entry to the Classic Rolls, or classic car experience
with space and grace aplenty.
