1984 Austin-Rover Mini 25
Various upgrades
including 1,330cc fast road engine, stainless steel exhaust and alloy wheels;
recent new subframes, brakes and Yohohama tyres; fast fun in a small
package!
The limited
edition Mini 25 was produced in 1984 to celebrate 25 years of the original
pocket rocket. Only 5,000 were made of which 3,511 were RHD for the UK market.
Based on the MkIV saloon with a 998cc engine, high-ratio 4-speed ‘box, 12”
wheels and front disc brakes, all were finished in Silver Leaf with Mini 25
decals, Nimbus Grey velour trim with red piping and 25 logos on the front seats,
red seat belts and red steering wheel.
This
particular Mini 25 was first registered in August 1984 and was acquired by our
vendor in 2016. He has considerably upgraded the car during his ownership so it
now goes rather better than a standard example.
The engine is a 1,275cc unit which was rebuilt and bored out to
1,330cc by Bromsgrove Engine Services who also fitted a Kent fast road cam.
Although there are no invoices, we are told that it cost £5,000 and produces
around 95bhp. Since the engine was rebuilt, it has only covered around 2,000
miles.
Repainted in red with a white roof, the
Mini also has various other upgrades including: 4-pin diff; Monza-style fuel
cap; blacked out windows; aluminium door handles and window winders; walnut
dash; Mountney Classic steering wheel; Minilite-style alloys shod with new
Yokohama tyres and a stainless steel exhaust.
About two years ago the car also received new front and rear
subframes. Earlier this year it also had new front brake discs and calipers and
new rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders. An indoor car cover and a Krooklok are
also present, along with a Mini 25 handbook. A new headlining is included (the
one currently fitted being somewhat tatty around the rear screen, as shown in
the photos) but this will need to be posted to the new owner if desired.
Starting promptly and running well as we have
moved it around on site, this fast little Mini has an MOT until September 2023
and appears to be in generally good condition although the front left wing area
is now showing signs of corrosion, as shown in the photos.
