1973 Volkswagen T2 Bay-Window Camper
Tidy
example from seven year loving home with pop-top and recently re-trimmed rear
seat and rock'n'roll bed and upgraded 2,000cc engine and new clutch in
2006
Dating from August 1973 this cool as a
cucumber VW Camper is, we think, a Westfalia variant and has been loved and
enjoyed by our lady owner for the last six years and is reluctantly for sale due
to replacement by a bigger, more modern Camper Van.
Finished in two-tone light green and white the van sits well and
features the most useful ‘pop-top’ which when erect, offers considerably more
internal (head) space and light.
Some of the
interior has been renewed during her tenure including the cushions and rock ‘n
roll bed.
The Van started readily and ran well
as we moved it around for these shots, indeed, it was driven up to us for the
sale from Romsey, Hampshire without a hitch.
The history file includes the V5C revealing 10 former keepers, the
current MOT (although exempt) valid until July 2023 recording no advisories and
showing her to have covered c.3,000 miles during her tenure.
In addition, the file includes 16 old MOTs and a selection of
invoices including a recent spend of £1,189 in July 2022 on minor welding, strip
and clean up of the brakes, a full service, new battery and new plugs plus a new
speedo head in 2015 (it looks like the speedo had stuck at c.29,357 miles as
this was the same at MOT for three years running) and a new brake servo unit in
2014.
The engine was changed to a larger 2,000cc engine along with new
callipers, new clutch and some welding to out-riggers, sills, front panel etc in
June 2006 at a cost of £4,191 by Kombi Klassics Ltd of Wareham, Dorset at 29,357
miles.
Ready to be enjoyed this is a cool van
with some of the original fixtures and fittings in good order on offer at
sensible money.
