1985 Mercedes-Benz 230CE (C123)
Cool 80's
pillar-less coupe with 2.3 litre 4-pot power; automatic 'box and power sunroof
showing 108,304 miles
Dating from June 1985 this
late model 230CE pillar-less coupe version (known as the C123) features the
proven M101 4-cylinder 2.3 litre petrol 4-cylinder engine which developed 134bhp
and boasts Bosch K-jetronic fuel injection for added reliability and improved
efficiency. Mated here to 4-speed automatic transmission the car proved a
popular choice although built in somewhat smaller numbers (29,858 230CE variants
built of 99,884 coupes produced) than its W123 saloon sibling of which 2.3
million were built over its lifetime!
Finished in champagne gold with
matching tan cloth interior and Zebrano wood trim. It has electric windows,
electric passenger mirror, electric sunroof, heated rear screen and the original
Blaupunkt radio unit.
Showing 108,304 miles, there is no history bar a
V5C to back this up. A look online at its MOT history back to 2006 shows regular
use and the mileage growing from 93,503 miles in 2006 to the 105,791 miles
recorded at the last MOT, valid until February 2022 which noted 7 advisories
none of which look to scary.
Looking at the bodywork, the paint looks
good, the car clearly having been the subject of a recent re-paint with signs
the front wings have been off or replaced - the bonnet sitting slightly
proud on the off-side below the windscreen (as pictured) but this should prove
readily adjustable with some fettling.
Built like tanks with proven
mechanicals, the W123/C123 series are always popular with good ergonomics and
ample performance and are classics you could consider using every day if
you wished.
Bidders are advised that this car was recorded as a CAT
C in May 2003.
